10-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Erg Chigaga, Merzouga, Draa Valley & Atlas Mountains

Your 10-day Morocco desert Tour begins with pick-up from Marrakech airport, your hotel, or another agreed meeting point. Pick Morocco Trip will transfer you to your riad or hotel in Marrakech.

After breakfast, your desert Tour leaves Marrakech toward the High Atlas Mountains. The road passes through Berber villages, mountain valleys, and scenic viewpoints before reaching the Tizi n’Test route.

You will travel through Asni and the Ouirgane Valley before continuing across the mountain landscapes toward Taliouine, a region known for saffron production. This day introduces the mountain side of the Tour before entering the deeper south of Morocco.

After breakfast, the Tour continues toward Taznakht, a town known for traditional carpets, then to Foum Zguid, one of the gateways to the wild Sahara.

From Foum Zguid, you continue across desert tracks, passing the dry Lake Iriki and desert plateaus with acacia trees. This part of the Tour gives you a real sense of remote Sahara landscapes before arriving at the Erg Chigaga dunes.

In the late afternoon, you can enjoy sunset over the dunes. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a desert camp near Chegaga.

Wake up early to enjoy sunrise over the Chegaga dunes. After breakfast, your Sahara Tour continues toward M’Hamid, a desert village at the edge of the Sahara.

You will then travel to Tamgroute, known for its traditional pottery and old religious library area. Depending on access and timing, you may visit pottery workshops, the underground kasbah area, and local village sites.

The Tour continues to Zagora for dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

After lunch on the road, you continue toward Rissani, a historic Saharan town connected to the Tafilalet region and desert trade routes. The day ends in Merzouga, near the Erg Chebbi dunes.

After breakfast, this day of the Tour is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga desert area. You will discover the oases of Merzouga, desert tracks, Khamlia village, nomadic families, fossil areas, and panoramic views around Erg Chebbi depending on timing and local conditions.

In the afternoon, you will begin your camel trekking experience across the dunes. You will watch sunset over the Sahara before reaching the desert camp.

Dinner and overnight stay will be in a desert camp near Merzouga, with Berber music and a peaceful night under the desert sky.

You will then travel through the Ziz Valley and palm landscapes before continuing toward Tinjdad and Tinghir. The day ends near Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most impressive canyon landscapes.

The Tour continues to Ouarzazate, where you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
