Starting location: Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley or Todra Gorges

Your Marrakech to Merzouga desert Tour begins with an early morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech. Pick Morocco Trip will take you across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, a scenic mountain road connecting Marrakech with southern Morocco.

Along the way, you will pass Berber villages, mountain viewpoints, and traditional landscapes before reaching the Ouarzazate region. Depending on timing, the Tour may include a visit to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar famous for its traditional earthen architecture.

The journey continues through Ouarzazate and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the Dades Valley or Todra Gorges area. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Dades Valley or Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, the second day of your desert Tour continues toward Todra Gorges, one of the most impressive canyon landscapes in Morocco. You will have time to walk inside the gorge and enjoy the dramatic rock walls and palm-filled surroundings.

The Tour then continues through Tinejdad and Erfoud toward Rissani, a traditional Saharan town known for its market and historical importance in the Tafilalet region. After lunch on the road, you continue to Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Upon arrival, you will start your camel trekking experience across the dunes. You will enjoy sunset over the Sahara before reaching the desert camp. Dinner will be served at the camp, followed by Berber music and a night in a nomadic-style tent.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – N’kob – Tazarine – Agdez – Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate

Wake up early to enjoy sunrise over the dunes, one of the most beautiful moments of the Tour. After breakfast, you will leave the desert camp by camel or 4x4 depending on the camp arrangement.

The road back follows a different route through Rissani, Alnif, N’kob, and Tazarine. This part of the Tour crosses quiet desert landscapes, oasis areas, and traditional villages before reaching the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s most famous palm valleys.

You will continue through Agdez toward Ouarzazate or Ait Ben Haddou, where you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.

Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Marrakech

This historic ksar is one of the most famous architectural sites in southern Morocco and a major stop on the old caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara.

After the visit, the Tour continues back across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. You will stop for photos, lunch, and short breaks along the way before arriving in Marrakech.
